How I Decided on Price
I recently went through the process of figuring out an accurate value for my Audi Q7, and wanted to share how I approached it.
First, I made sure to compare apples to apples. I searched all the Audi Q7s for sale in Michigan and filtered for the right trim and packages: the Prestige Package (not the lower Premium), the Black Optic package, Towing package, Orginal owner, and NO accidents. Once I narrowed it down, I calculated the average asking prices — and was pleased to see they lined up pretty well with what J.D. Power had listed.
According to J.D. Power:
- Private Party Value: $37,453
- Trade-In Value: $32,175

Interestingly, Carvana offered me $32,800 — slightly above trade-in. Not bad, especially for a no-hassle option.
I’ve lived here for over 20 years and have always sold my vehicles privately, which has worked out well. That said, I’m seriously considering Carvana this time. I’d be leaving some money on the table compared to a private sale, but if their process is really as simple as they claim, it might be worth the trade-off.
Note: If I do go with Carvana, I’ll post a review of the experience here, so feel free to check back if you’re curious how it turns out.
